The popular Balsall Common Comedy Club was created by local award-winning comedian Harvey Hawkins after he decided to use his growing list of contacts to bring some of the UK’s top acts to his ‘hometown’.Whilst Harvey tends to stay behind the scenes at these events, he is a well-respected comic in his own right, having won the Birmingham Comedy Festival’s Breaking Talent Award in 2016 and having also made the Birmingham Mail’s ‘Ones to Watch List’ for 2017:
“The idea behind the Club is to bring the best comedians on the UK circuit to Balsall Common on a Quarterly basis,” explains Harvey:
“I’m very fortunate that I get to gig alongside some of the most exciting acts and the great thing is this gives me the opportunity to bring the best of those back to Balsall Common.”
Not only does Harvey apply his own strict levels of quality control to his shows, he aims to make his shows accessible too:
“The idea is to make top comedy accessible to everyone in the area, so in addition to avoiding any ‘members-only’ rules, we also aim to ensure all shows are competitively priced.”

First of all, the good news is you don’t have to be a member to attend.
Since its launch in 2016 the Balsall Common Comedy Club’s shows have already become highly-anticipated events in the local calendar.
